When Sparks Lifestyle Center set out to fit its family entertainment arcade in Durban, the brief called for a central retail hub that could hold its own inside a busy, high-energy space. Shop Display manufactured and installed the full shopfit to the supplied specification, delivering a project that ties the arcade’s retail, food and play areas together.
At the centre of the space sits a curved, freestanding kiosk built in warm timber veneer with a run of glass-topped display cabinets around its base. We fabricated the cabinetry off-site in our Pinetown workshop, then installed it on site so the merchandising counters, glazed showcases and service points read as a single continuous unit. The glass display cases were built to keep smaller retail lines secure and visible while customers move through the arcade.
Above the counter, the standout element is a sculptural feature ceiling: a cluster of suspended discs in graded greens set against timber battens and foliage detailing. This was manufactured and installed as part of the same package, along with the surrounding timber slat ceilings and planted trim that give the arcade its landscaped, indoor-garden feel.
The result is a retail environment that works hard in a demanding setting. Every surface was manufactured to withstand constant foot traffic, and the modular build means Sparks Lifestyle can adjust merchandising as the offer changes.
